Artists Set Up 'Free Store' in NYC

Free Store NYCSounds too good to be true right? Nothing is free! But this is:

Artists Athena Robles and Anna Stein created the store in the heart of Manhattan's Financial District to distribute everyday goods at no cost.

Using the bartering system, visitors to the store on Nassau Street can trade or donate. But they don't have to. Stuff given away has included t-shirts, sneakers, a video camera and a pair of blue drop earrings.

Thirty-five-year-old customer Peter Tambini told the New York Post, "It feels like shoplifting with permission."

The temporary art installation was funded through grants. (from AP)

  1. That is brilliant. I love how some people give back right on the spot.
